Excellence El Carmen in Punta Cana

Rooms :

We stayed in an oceanfront two-story honeymoon suite with rooftop terrace and plunge pool. The room was very clean with plenty of space in each of the living areas. The bathroom had a huge shower equipped with a wonderful rainfall shower head. The king size bed was very comfortable. It was great to wake up in the morning and have views of the ocean without even getting out of bed. There was a separate living area in the room that had an additional TV and comfortable sectional sofa. The refrigerator was stocked with drinks each day including snacks, soda, water, and beer. The room also includes a jacuzzi tub that overlooks the ocean and a day bed that makes a great reading or napping spot. The rooftop terrace did not disappoint. There were multiple day beds, one with a shaded canopy. There was also a sectional and private plunge pool.

Pools/Beach :

While we utilized the private pool often, the resort has pools everywhere you look. It is easy to find quiet and private areas if you would like. If you prefer more activity, go down to the main pool where lots of guests congregate during the day. There is a pool bar, music, and activities and games going on in the main pool area. Guests are encouraged to participate but no one is pushy. Towels are provided, and drinks are served in and around the pool. The beaches are beautiful and well maintained. There are umbrellas with beach chairs scattered along the ocean front. There is plenty of sun or shade since there are plenty of palm trees to lay under. A benefit of the Excellence Club is a private beach area that offers more chairs, daybeds, and servers waiting to bring you food and drinks. The private beach also has books to read and sunscreen to use.

Food :

The food at Excellence El Carmen is some of the best that we have had at an all-inclusive experience. There are so many restaurants that we did not get to enjoy them all. We mostly enjoyed the buffet breakfast and the simple hut on the beach that served up burgers, fries, and pizzas each day. We also enjoyed The Grill (steak), Oregano (Italian), and the Sports Bar (American Pub). Other guests bragged about the Asian, French, and Indian restaurants although we did not have the chance to try any of those.

Staff :

The staff is what really makes this resort excellent. From the first step on to resort property, you are welcomed in to the Excellence family and are treated as such. Every person we encountered was so nice and helpful. The employees work so hard and it is obvious that their priority is to serve their guests at every corner. There are several staff members that we will never forget. In fact, we are likely to return soon because of them.

Overall :

The Excellent brand is among the best we have experienced. The resort offers an upscale and classy experience for adults who are looking that type of atmosphere. The building offers a modern and clean design that we found refreshing. From walking around, it seems like each room has something unique and worthy to offer. The grounds and landscaping are flawless, and the staff are second to none. Excellence El Carmen is certainly and 5-star experience.
